About Us
What is yoga?
Yoga is a Sanskrit word for “union.” It is the language of ancient India where yoga originated over five thousand years ago. Through practice, one develops a deeper awareness of the body, mind and spirit. The word Yoga is commonly described by the Sanskrit word asana, which refers to the practice of physical postures.
With regular practice of yoga postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama), your stamina, strength and flexibility are improved and increased. Yoga has a profound effect on the endocrine, nervous and circulatory systems, and it improves the physical, mental, spiritual and organic systems of the human body. Many common physical ailments can also be improved through the regular practice of yoga.
Who is iYoga, Inc.?
iYoga Inc. was created by Kim Phillips, a dedicated yoga practitioner since 1998. She teaches primarily in the Iyengar method, but offers a variety of Hatha yoga styles. Kim specializes in Yoga Therapy, an alternative way to healing oneself.
Kim created iYoga with "healing" in mind. Her therapeutic approach to traditional asanas, teaches students to move their bodies towards healing and will generally begin to see improvement in as little as a few weeks. At iYoga, we strive and encourage to inspire the students to maintain an open mind allowing them to expand on their own creativity in their bodies.
