Yoga 1Traditional poses including standing, seated, supine, twists, backbends and beginner inversions taught with a focus on alignment and breath work (pranayama). These postures improve your flexibility, strength and stamina. Yoga 1-2Building on the fundamentals of Yoga 1, poses will be linked in a flow (vinyasa) and taken to more advanced variations. Inversions and arm balances will be explored. Prior yoga knowledge suggested. Yoga Therapy (Therapeutics)Asanas assisted with props and the use of iYoga’s “Yoga Bar System” to target specific areas of the body, perfect for anybody suffering from injuries and for people who want to deepen the effect of a particular posture. You will learn techniques that target specific areas of the body. This will help with ailments and injuries, and will relieve chronic aches and pains. We use preparatory postures with the help of props to enhance your flexibility, strength, increase range of motion, open the joints and improve circulation. You will also be introduced to the fundamental uses of iYoga's unique "Yoga Bar System," which offers support in poses to deepen the stretch, maximize the impact and generally help practitioners get the most out of their practice.
Intermediate Led PracticeIn this led practice, students will be exposed to a more challenging asana practice. Strength, conditioning and balance will be explored and the practice will progress toward more advanced postures including inversions; arm balances; backbends and core sequences. As this is a led practice, students should feel comfortable with less direct observation and more comfortable exploring the mechanics, intent and outcome of postures and sequences. Comfort in the postures on the Sun and Moon Salutes is recommended for anyone attending this class. Restorative(The 2nd Wednesday of every month is FULL RESTORATIVE)(The 4th Tuesday of every month is FULL RESTORATIVE)Postures supported with props to promote deep relaxation. Also known as Relaxation. This class is designed to help rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. With a combination of restful poses and breathing techniques (pranayama), these poses counteract the effects of stress and daily life. Restorative poses are generally held for longer periods of time.
